Download xQuakShell 1.5.0
Portable archives: unpack and run. No installer, no registry, nothing written outside the folder.
Choose an archive
| Platform | Archive | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | …-windows-amd64-portable.zip | The machine has the WebView2 runtime: Windows 11 and most Windows 10 installs |
| Windows | …-windows-amd64-portable-webview2.zip | Clean or offline machines. WebView2 Fixed Runtime is bundled |
| Linux | …-linux-amd64-webkit4.1.tar.gz | Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 40+, Arch. Start here |
| Linux | …-linux-amd64-webkit4.0.tar.gz | Older systems that still carry webkit2gtk-4.0 |
Linux builds require glibc 2.35 or newer. If the wrong WebKit archive is unpacked, the launcher says so and names the package to install. ./install-desktop-entry.sh adds it to the application menu.
Verify
Every release publishes SHA256SUMS covering all archives.
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing
On Windows, PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\xQuakShell-v1.5.0-windows-amd64-portable.zip -Algorithm SHA256
First run
- Windows SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC” because the binaries are not code-signed. Choose More info, then Run anyway, after verifying the checksum.
- Create the vault. Set a master password and store the recovery key; it is shown once.
- Import from
~/.ssh/configor PuTTY, or create a connection with Ctrl+Shift+N.
Sync server
Only needed if you sync devices or work in a team. Released with the application: Windows x86-64, Linux x86-64 and ARM64, and the container image ghcr.io/teoritty/xqsyncd. See Sync and teams.
Nightly
The nightly pre-release is rebuilt from main whenever it moves and replaced in place. Use a tagged release for anything you rely on.
